Director of Prayer & Outreach

I was born and raised in the hills of East Tennessee.  I knew from a young age that I was called to be a missionary.  I attended Anderson University, a Bible college in Indiana, majoring in Spanish, thinking I would end up somewhere inSouth America.  I love foreign cultures.

I quickly grew weary of the Christian saturation of a Bible college and transferred to East Tennessee State University where I could be in the world but not of it and complete my major in both Spanish and Sociology while participating in campus ministry with Inner Varsity.  This is where I also met David.  Unfortunately he wanted to be a pastor, the one thing I was sure I never wanted in ministry. But God reminded me that being a missionary means going wherever He calls; and in His wisdom He called me to marry a pastor and go to the Chicago suburbs.

After ten years of ministry in that ‘foreign’ culture, God called us to a radically different culture — the city of Bakersfield– to start new churches.  In October of 2003 Life Journey Church was born.

I love church planting. It is the hardest thing I have ever done but also the adventure that has brought me closest to God. And I am not a stranger to adventure. Two of my favorite sports are rock climbing and caving. I love meeting God on the heights of a sheer rock face and also in the dark wet depths of the earth! These extremes typify the highs and lows of  our spiritual journeys as well, extremes that I am willing to embrace on my missionary journey wherever God calls me.
