Barbara Melton- Office Manager
Early on in my life walk I had a taste of what it was like to be in God’s presence and grow with Him from a Youth Christian Camp experience. Although I was a regular church attender, once I sampled the faire of His presence I could no longer be satisfied with life without Him. I began a new chapter in my life at a new church, was baptized, and since then I have not stopped longing to be a part of God’s work. When I graduated high school I attended CSU at Bakersfield, quickly hopping into a Christian Club on Campus, InterVarsity (IV) Christian Fellowship – there my love for small groups was ignited. Also, while involved in IV, I met and fell in love with my husband and best friend of 18 years, Carl.
Carl and I attended various churches as we began our early married life together after college - moving from Bakersfield to Houston, to Los Angeles, to San Diego, to the Bay Area, and back to Bakersfield again due to Carl’s occupational journey. We made great friends and grew in many of the churches we were part of, jumping into community and Scripture.
When Carl and I found ourselves back in Bakersfield years later, we attended a new church plant called Life Journey. A short time later, a job opening appeared on the horizon for an Office Manager at Life Journey. I walked into a job, which really was walking into a ministry. Although I have a regular schedule and duties of an Office Manager, what drives me is His People and His Work here. I connect people with information, opportunity, and community but most importantly with the intention to always direct people toward our God.
My biggest delights are in leading a small group here at Life Journey: connecting with the ladies, ingesting a
solid meal of scripture with treasured delicacies, praying for each other along the way, and sharing good coffee and good conversational moments with our Life Journey ladies.
Our Father’s love is so lavish and complete for us and I want each person who walks through our doors at Life Journey to truly know that. So wherever He places me on this life journey I want to walk along side others and continually point them to Jesus!
